Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky is going to direct an Unforgiven-style George Washington movie
It’s surprising that George Washington hasn’t had much big screen time, isn’t it? HBO did that whole John Adams miniseries and there are two big screen movies about Abraham Lincoln this year, one where he is a vampire hunter.
That’s about to change, however. Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky is set to produce and direct a film for Paramount called The General. Apparently it’s going to be a lot like Unforgiven rather than a straight biopic. Unforgiven was about an old gunslinger that reluctantly takes one last job. I do believe Washington was reluctant to be the first president of the United States of America, so it meshes well.
The movie will have to sit for a while. Aronofsky first has to direct Noah starring Russell Crowe. So yes, he will be going from Noah’s Ark to – potentially – the White House.
But who would play Washington? If he’s in his later years I can’t choose just one person to play him. What do you think? [Variety via ComingSoon]
