Totally awesome news, dudes. Bill and Ted 3 will be directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest). Galaxy Quest, for those who haven’t watched it, was a totally awesome and cheesy movie ripping on Star Trek conventions about a sci-fi TV show cast that’s reunited after years and goes on a crazy adventure into the real world of their show.

It’s confusing, but it works. Bringing that element to a Bill and Ted 3 is most excellent. The script is done, and was written by Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson. And don’t worry, Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves are set to reprise their roles as Bill and Ted. The movie will focus on how their lives are going now, rather than reboot the franchise.

Vulture says that MGM is looking for another studio to co-finance the deal (I know you want to do this, Universal) and that it’s being looked at as a mid-level comedy similar to Hot Tub Time Machine. So basically, an excellent rental after it hits theaters. Party on, dudes. [Vulture via IGN]
