Back to the Future’s time-machine DeLorean up for auction. UPDATE: It actually drives

Back to the Future DeLorean up for auction.

Update: We just learned that the DeLorean from Back to the Future III still works. Yep, you can drive it around and and you and your friends can ride around in a friggin’ time machine. But, and this is a huge but, it’s not street legal. So expect to get pulled over a lot. And get fined.

In case you weren’t satisfied with just owning a pair of Nike Mags, you can now own one of the actual DeLoreans used to make the three Back the the Future films.

The DeLorean for sale is the one decked out in ’50s tech, complete with vacuum tubes and white-wall tires, that Marty used to go back to the old west and save Doc in Back to the Future III.

As it turns out, the DeLorean isn’t the only piece of BTTF gear to be unloaded either. Up for sale are some clothing worn by the actors during the ’50s scenes throughout the films and Biff’s Pitbull hoverboard from the second movie.

I still don’t think it works though, sorry.

Following the lead of the Nike Mags that went on sale in September, part of the auction will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

And after seeing Michael J. Fox in the promotions for the Nike Mags, the foundation and Fox need all the help they can get, which they’ll be getting because the hoverboard and DeLorean are expected to fetch anywhere from $415,000 to $620,000 together.
