Ashton Kutcher will play Steve Jobs in an Indie biopic

April Fools this is not. Variety has reported that Two and a Half Men star Ashton Kutcher will play Apple’s famous front man in a film.

The film is simply titled Jobs and has no relation to the film that Sony is producing, based on the best selling biography by Walter Isaacson. This one chronicles his meteoric rise and will be directed by Swing Vote’s Joshua Michael Stern. They’ll be filming in May when Kutcher is on hiatus from his show.

Yeah, this is a big departure for the comedy man and it’s pretty much the biggest role of his career. He’s tried drama before in The Butterfly Effect and Bobby and didn’t do too bad of a job. Kutcher certainly has the look to play Jobs and he does have some charisma. But can he pull off the whole determined SOB thing that Jobs had going?

And to think, this came out on April Fools. [Variety]
